What to Expect

We hope that you feel welcome and “at home” here at the Neighborhood. We have found that these are some of the frequently-asked questions by those who visit our church for the first time. This will give you an idea of what to expect during our Sunday morning service.

What do I do with my kids?

  • Infant - Pre K - May be taken to their classroom upon arrival.
  • K - 12th grade - Will go to their classes after worship.

What happens on a Sunday morning?

Worship – Our desire is not to play and sing songs, but to express our love and commitment personally to God. Because of this, we devote a good section of our time on Sunday to musical worship.

Fellowship – We value our time together, so we are purposeful in spending time building relationships with each other. This typically happens before and after the service time and midweek during our home groups.

Teaching – Because we value scripture and what it says to us, we spend time looking at God’s Word and learning to apply it to our lives in a practical way.

Ministry – Prayer is an important part in our relationship with God. At the end of each service, opportunity is given to respond to what God is saying to you and receive prayer.

Special times – We typically serve communion on the first Sunday of each month. All are welcome to participate in communion, if you choose.

Who do I talk to if I have questions about the church?

  • If you have questions, you may speak with any member of  the pastoral staff. Or you can email us at info@nvcfamily.org, or call the churc office at (909) 646-8860.

Our Children's Ministry

“Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’”  - Matthew 19:14

At the Neighborhood we value children. It is our desire to provide a place for them to live, learn, and experience Jesus as their personal friend and Savior. We are committed to growing children up to the full stature of Christ.

At the Neighborhood, we have two venues for our kids. Ages 0-4 years old are in our nursery and enjoy fun crafts and games as they learn Bible stories, and what it is like to have relationship with God.

Our Sunday Sports Camp is a fun, vibrant ministry that includes our K-5 kids. Children will first join the adults for worship and then will be released to the gym for their Sunday Sports Camp experience. Once in the gym, kids will have a large group interactive Bible lesson and then will break up into small cooperative groups to apply the lesson to their lives. After these small groups, kids will be led in a sport of their choice to build up confidence and athletic skills in an encouraging and non-competitive environment.

All of our adult teachers have been fingerprinted and have had a background check through the Department of Justice.

If you have any further questions about the children's ministry at the Neighborhood Church, please feel free to email our Children's Ministry Coordinator, Jacky Hove, at Jacky.Hove@nvcfamily.org or our Children's Pastor, Chris Sundberg at csundberg@hmc.edu.

Our Youth Ministry

We exist to draw youth into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and to develop followers and disciples of Jesus who are willing to serve others and glorify God with their lives.

Our youth group is a place where students can be introduced to Jesus, discipled in their faith, and equipped to minister to the hurting, poor, and lost. Our staff and adult leaders desire to invest in and encourage your teenagers to follow Jesus Christ. We are committed to working with students, parents, and youth leaders to make disciples of Christ ready to share God’s love with the community. Relational youth ministry is at the core of what we do.

Middle and high school students gather on Sunday mornings and for special events during the week.

We also offer the High School age kids a time of their own to hang out, fellowship, worship, and go deeper with God through bible study and prayer on Monday nights at Etiwanda Community Church from 7:00-9:00 pm.

If you have any further questions about our Youth Ministry at the Neighborhood Church, please feel free to email our Youth Pastor, Chris Sundberg at csundberg@hmc.edu.
